To the Mindless, the Dominant Narrative of any era is always right. Indeed they will defend it with fanatical certainty. Yet as any student of history must admit, such narratives are frequently cancelled by future generations and found to be grossly simplistic if not utterly absurd.
In Sept. of 1999, astrophysicist S. Fred Singer published “Hot Talk, Cold Science: Global Warming’s Unfinished Debate.” Citing the huge impact of forces over which Man has no control [i.e., solar variability, oceanic activity, etc.], Singer says that Man’s use of fossil fuels has only a minor effect on the Earth’s Climate, and that the Global Warming Alarmism of the contemporary Left has no legitimate scientific basis!
In 2023, a website called Snow Job published a piece entitled “Al Gore’s 30 Years of Climate Errors.” In “An Inconvenient Truth” [2006], Gore, referring to Hemingway’s book “The Snows of Kilimanjaro,” predicted that there would be no snow whatsoever on that mountain by 2016. In 2022, however, a weather network in the area predicted there would be approximately 8 feet of snow there by Dec. of that year. Several other ridiculously erroneous predictions made by Gore are cited in the piece.
In 2022, the American Enterprise Institute mocked 18 “spectacularly wrong” predictions made by global warming fanatics in 1970, the year of the first “Earth Day.” Harvard biologist George Wald, for example, said that Civilization would be extinct by the year 2000 if Man did not abandon his use of fossil fuels. The recently deceased Paul Ehrlich, whose basic thesis was that the planet could not possibly feed its ever increasing population, predicted that by 1990 approximately 4 billion people, including 65 million Americans, would starve to death! In Jan. of 1970, the iconic Life Magazine predicted that within 10 years urban dwellers around the world would have to wear Gas Masks simply to survive the pollution of their environments. As you no doubt get my point, I shall not cite the various other prognostications which have proven to be comically Incorrect!
In 2025, Juno News, a conservative voice here in Canada, featured journalist Harrison Faulkner interviewing American nuclear physicist Dr. Jim Mason who argued that Man’s exploitation of fossil fuels was having little effect on our Climate. Mason cited a recent investigation conducted in Poland which validated that very point. At the same time he referenced the studies of both an American and Canadian scientist who had concluded that the Greenhouse Gas narrative of the Left was grossly exaggerated. As Faulkner pointed out in his post, little mention of these facts seems to have made it to the mainstream media.
In his interview with Mason, Faulkner asks why the Global Warming Skepticism expressed by various accredited scientists is generally being dismissed as just so much right-wing disinformation. Saying his focus is Science rather than Politics, Mason refuses to answer. But the answer is brazenly obvious, for the Left’s aversion to the exploitation of Fossil Fuels is but an aspect of its loathing for Western Civilization in general, its loathing for Capitalism, for Industrialization, for Colonialism, for Christianity, indeed for Achievement itself. The Irony of this neo-Marxist world-view, of course, is that many of its proponents live in multi-million dollar mansions and have their own private jets which yield carbon footprints a thousand times greater than that of the average citizen. Seemingly impervious to their Hypocrisy, they celebrate the Right of Asians and Africans to invade Western Europe and North America in order to enjoy the very luxuries which they constantly revile as the products of Oppression. Truly Ridiculous, yet accepted by most of my “liberal” friends!
