As pointed out by The Blaze on July 20, and as is known by all Canadians who follow politics, Justin Trudeau proudly announced several years ago that Canada had become the first “post-national country” committed to “no core identity.” Infatuated with the Leftist concept of “inclusiveness,” he was in fact admitting our country’s abandonment of the core Values and Principles upon which it had been founded. He was in fact celebrating the Moral/Intellectual Nihilism of the contemporary Left!
The imperfect but generally progressive nations of Western Europe and North America share certain fundamental Enlightenment Principles and Values which are the basis of both their Achievements and Humanity. Paradoxically, while Freedom of Speech and Conscience are among those cherished fundamentals, the politics of those whose perspective is inherently antipathetic to them pose a threat to the very existence of our Western Democracies. Trudeau’s “post-nationalism” entails an utter indifference to the values of the new immigrants welcomed to our country. “Assimilationism,” on the other hand, is implicit with the notion that certain beliefs and behavior are entirely unacceptable.
Statistics show that while 97% of Canadians in 1961 were of Western European extraction, that number has shrunk to 52%. Now I am in no way suggesting that non-Europeans need to be barred from migrating to the West, but certain foreign cultures have clearly indoctrinated millions with Ideas and Values utterly antagonistic to those of a truly liberal [i.e., conservative] Democracy. Islam, for example, has traditionally treated Women as mere second-class citizens subject to their Male overlords. “Progressive” Saudi Arabia only gave them the right to drive a car in 2018! Absurdly, however, reviling such chauvinism here in the Inclusive West is typically denounced by “liberals” as Islamophobic hate-speech rather than a noble defense of Women’s Rights. While commentators such as Douglas Murray and Ayaan Hirsi Ali have consistently emphasized the aggressive political nature of mainstream Islam, simpletons such as Canada’s Justin Trudeau simply denounce them as Racists!
Of course there are wonderful, evolved Muslims who have abandoned some of the truly medieval aspects of their religion. Yet a number of European countries, including my beloved Ireland, never stop citing the negative cultural impact of their Islamic immigrants. The most effective antidote to this cancer would of course be political regimes that aggressively denounce and in some cases actually criminalize the behavior and beliefs in question. But as that is not the case here in “progressive” Canada, pro-Hamas demonstrations and attacks on Jewish synagogues have surged out of control over the last few years. No one is suggesting Netanyahu is perfect, but anti-Semitism has to a large extent come to be tolerated here in Canada. Only recently was Ahmad Gerar indicted for celebrating a “night of rage” against Israel, even though he has taken part in multiple similar demonstrations over the last several years. What is truly distressing about this is the fact that “conservative” groups insistent on publicly expressing their disdain for various aspects of the Left’s agenda, including its open border policies, will almost immediately be denounced as “far-right” fanatics and silenced in one way or another. Call for the death of Israel, however, and Canada’s “compassionate” Left takes some time to make up its “mind.”
Spain’s P. M. is a radical Leftist who hates both Israel and the U.S.. He has in the past granted legal status to half a million illegal migrants to his country. In light of the recent invasion of the Spanish North African city of Ceuta by approximately 50 thousand Moroccan “illegals,” various conservative pundits have blamed Pedro Sanchez for the deaths and general chaos that has ensued. Ludicrously, however, leftist journals such as The Atlantic have lashed out at this narrative, suggesting there is little connection between Sanchez’ policies and the present situation in Ceuta. This argument is absurd. The notion that the open-border policies of simpletons such as Sanchez, Biden and Trudeau are in no way responsible for many of the problems confronting their nations, is absurd.
The U.S. is hardly immune to the inclusive dementia. Just recently the citizens of N.Y.C. elected a Ugandan Communist as their Mayor! While many who voted for him were no doubt immigrants to the U.S., clearly he was staunchly supported by longstanding American citizens enamored of the propaganda relentlessly spewed by the Left in consort with its Media and Academic allies. Mamdani’s Socialist leanings, to them, represent a level of compassion beyond the capacity of the Heartless Right! That Socialism by definition grants Governments powers utterly inconsistent with America’s Bill of Rights, is apparently irrelevant. That DEI mandates based on Gender and Skin Color do nothing to rectify the injustices of the past, while brazenly inflicting new injustices on innocent citizens guilty of nothing whatsoever, is equally so.
Inclusiveness assumes us to be Animals devoid of both Reason and Moral Responsibility. That a major U.S. city such as N.Y. has elected a mayor utterly indifferent to the values and concepts upon which the country was founded, is truly distressing. There are now apparently 40 Muslim Mayors throughout the U.S. as well as 70 Muslims occupying seats in various States’ Houses of Representatives. While these numbers may be deemed a wonderful sign of a citizenry that has risen above the plague of Racism, they may also be an indication of a population that has succumbed to the Anti-Western, Anti-Capitalist, Anti-Democratic propaganda of the Left. It is the possibility that Mamdani’s election may be a symptom of a significant decline in the Democratic Values of the American population, that makes the message of Rational Conservatives so very important these days! Sadly, despicably, that message is typically repudiated by the Left as just so much hate speech. As neither Reason or History validates its narrative, it has no other option!
MAGA, meaning Make America Great Again, is a perfectly legitimate political objective. Unfortunately Trump’s tactics hardly conform to the Enlightened Principles that inspired America’s founders. The complexity of today’s political debate notwithstanding, however, one can only hope the American public comes to reaffirm the Personal Rights and Freedoms which ought to inform every political regime on the planet.
