As The Blaze pointed out on April 4, Harry Enton recently admitted on CNN that while only 35% of the American public approves of Donald Trump, only 28% are happy with the policies of the Democratic Party. Even more significantly, 55% of Democrats are apparently disillusioned with the priorities of their own Congressional representatives. Chuck Schumer’s position as the Democrat’s Senate leader, Enton says, is clearly in peril.
That a data analyst such as Enton was allowed to air such views on a decidedly Leftist network such as CNN, would suggest they are undeniably true. What immediately came to my mind was the testimonial of Joni Werner, a Texas Democrat who admitted in a Feb. U.S.A. Today article that she had been totally impressed by Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. His agenda, she said, was clearly best for the nation and vital to restoring its economy. AS U.S.A. Today is also inclined to the Left, its publication of an opinion piece flattering to Trump would once again seem to imply that there is a growing awareness amongst “progressives” that many of their celebrated “woke” policies are perhaps not worthy of pursuit, indeed that their loathing for Trump is based more on Ideological Narrow-Mindedness that simple common sense.
Trump’s aggressiveness makes it easy to dislike him. Indeed it frequently leads him to play fast and loose with the legal/moral protocols to which all politicians ought to submit. Yet at the same time a rational evaluation of his Objectives would suggest they make far more sense than most every aspect of the agenda of the contemporary Left. The statistics cited above indicate that a majority of Democrats have perhaps come to accept this fact. Bill Maher’s perspective is significant. Having posted several scathing critiques of the “liberal” Left, he nevertheless continues to see himself as a liberal. But at some point those confronted with this dilemma must put aside their prior political affiliations and vote for what truly makes sense.
Is Trump’s assignation of ICE Agents to multiple American cities a product of his racist loathing for illegal aliens, or his love for the rightful citizens of his country? While I have read testimonials suggesting he is Not a Racist, the answer to this question is irrelevant. His first loyalty is to those who elected him! Significantly, many of the latter do have reservations with his behavior and are not the ignorant neo-Nazis frequently reviled by the Left. They voted for Trump because they felt they had no other option. Likewise Democrats who have become disenchanted with the “woke” inanities of their party need to support rational Republican policies in their local elections, however much they loathe Donald Trump. Support for those policies is not synonymous with support for Trump and ought in no way to deter officials from both parties to pressure the President to alter course on what is no doubt his greatest act of indiscretion, his Declaration of War on Iran!
In a world of imperfect options, we have no choice but to do the best we can!
