It has occurred to me since his re-election that not only Donald Trump, but his beautiful wife and five children, must require round-the-clock protection given the level of hatred for him fomented by his political opponents. How many hundreds if not thousands out there must feel they would be doing their country a favor by killing either him or a member of his family!
I can’t imagine living a life in the knowledge that every second on the planet night be my very last. No doubt those who hate him would attribute his willingness to put himself in such peril to his massive ego rather than his love of country. Common sense would suggest it is part of both. I can only hope that he, Melania and his kids are indeed fully protected over the next four years and that he can in fact repair some of the damage done to the U.S. by the simplistic, sentimental, amoral, irrational dementia of post-Woodstock “progressives.” Yes, Trump is not perfect. Nor is the U.S.! But the narrative that America and its fellow Western Capitalist Democracies are the most oppressive, racist forces in all of history, is utterly absurd!
