An Inspiring Message from a Cultural Icon

Just a couple of days ago, Mr. Pat Boone, now 92 years of age, posted a brief video in which he sought to explain the political discord presently tearing apart the U.S.. Referring to “progressives” as well-meaning but shallow, he defines their guiding principle as the belief that ideas and behavior that make people feel good, are therefore politically defensible. While he does not expand upon this statement, he is clearly referring to the Left’s “compassionate” approach to all “oppressed minorities.” Should an Indigenous person feel insulted by the notion that his people’s Culture is inestimably less evolved that that of Western Europe, the Left will defend him as the victim of Racism, in spite of the obvious Truth of that notion. But the Feel-Good Principle, of course, does not apply to the “privileged” classes whose every thought and action is apparently tainted with an arrogant self-interest.

Mr. Boone speaks calmly, with no hint of rancor. He is simply promoting Moral Conscience and Self-Awareness as the solutions to the West’s seeming decline into political chaos. Ironically, of course, many on the Left will deride his views as those of just another White Supremacist. Yes, so absurd is the contemporary Left, that attempts to promote Honesty and Integrity over the biases promoted by Identity Politics, are often reviled as examples of ignorance and prejudice!

The cancer infecting Western politics, says Mr. Boone, is the sense of Entitlement promoted by the Left. It is a mindset utterly incompatible with the dictates of Moral Conscience. It is the Cancer manifest in the outrageous escalation of criminality, both petty and lethal, reported daily by our various news outlets. It is the Cancer which led to the murder of Charlie Kirk, to the destructive violence of the BLM protests of 2020, to the ludicrous assumption of Trans Females [i.e., Males] that they have every right to compete against Women in athletic competitions, etc., etc.. The Neo-Marxist Left is quite literally against the very concept of Moral Integrity!

Refusing to get into the specifics of the contemporary American scene, Mr. Boone does mention Ronald Reagan as a dear, former friend whose moral focus was utterly compatible with his own. His failure to mention Donald Trump, on the other hand, would seem an implicit criticism of the current President’s aggressive, divisive theatrics. Significantly, his brief video immediately put me in mind of Martin Luther King’s famous statement that he hoped his children would someday be judged not “by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” That this Moral Focus would today seem to be almost exclusively pursued by those of a Conservatives perspective, is a sad comment on the utter superficiality of the Left’s Identity Politics!
