As the N.Y. Post reported, 54 were shot and 7 killed in Chicago over the Labour Day weekend. In response to Donald Trump’s suggestion that he might do for Chicago what he did for Washington D.C. by sending in the National Guard, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, a Democrat, was appalled, saying he was utterly opposed to the move. This is hardly surprising given that when D.C. went 12 days without a single murder as a result of Trump’s tactics, various Democrats and their media minions [i.e., The Washington Post] claimed this was really nothing unusual. Rather than celebrating the safety of the city’s citizens, they chose to play politics! Pathetic!
On Oct. 18, when a Lindsay, Ont. man defended himself with a knife against a middle of the night home invader, he was charged for the undue aggressiveness of his behaviour. This past Sunday in Vaughan, just north of Toronto, Abdul Aleem Farooqi, a 46 year old father of four, was murdered around 1 A.M. by three home invaders who killed him in front of his children. It is in response to such abominations the Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre has suggested reinforcing the rights of law abiding home dwellers to defend themselves without fear of being dragged through the courts. Liberal Justice Minister Sean Fraser, however, mocked Poilivre, saying his proposal would return the country to the days of the “Wild West.” His scorn, it would seem, was incited not by the behaviour of those animals who feel entitled to break into private homes in the middle of the night, putting entire families at risk, but rather with Poilievre’s suggestion that law abiding citizens, having no idea of the intentions of their invaders, have every right to defend themselves even with lethal force.
The Left’s indifference to the Rule of Law, of course, should come as no surprise. It is, after all, our “progressive” judiciary that has been releasing convicted felons over and over again for decades, often with the tragic results presently devastating the family of Abdul Aleem Farooqi and, no doubt, the families of those seven shot to death in Chicago over the weekend!
