On Jan. 31, Chicago’s Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson issued an executive order authorizing the Chicago Police Department to monitor the actions of the ICE agents presently in the city and report anything they deemed illegal to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office where the perpetrators would be prosecuted. The agents, he said, had “destabilized” entire communities and “provoked life-threatening confrontations.” Clearly he saw their presence as just another example of Trump’s abuse of his authority. His feelings were echoed in a number of other Democratically run municipalities such as Seattle whose Mayor has issued the very same edict.
As you no doubt already know, on Jan. 7 protester Renee Good was shot and killed in Minneapolis by ICE Agent Jonathan Ross. While his defenders maintain she was clearly trying to run him over, I have watched every video available on the incident and seen no evidence of this charge. Her death, it seems to me, was utterly unnecessary and a criminal investigation would seem to be warranted. But while I agree with Chicago’s Mayor on the need for such legal oversight, I utterly disagree with his simplistic belief that ICE is the villain in the explosion of unrest presently plaguing many American cities.
Is it not likely that the hordes jeering the immigration officers in any given municipality are being incited by the very Illegals those officers were sent to confront? Is not the Race Card a likely aspect of their stratagem? Are not empathetic “liberals,” ruled by their Hearts rather than their Minds, utterly susceptible to the notion that Trump’s immigration agenda is rooted in Racism rather than anything resembling Common Sense? Was not Renee Good likely in Minneapolis on Jan. 7 for all of the above reasons?
For Mayor Brandon Johnson to blame ICE agents for the violence that has erupted in his city, is absurd. Yes, some of them may have reacted inappropriately to their assailants, but they are there to uphold The Rule of Law, a fact to which their protesters would seem to be impervious. This invocation of The Rule of Law is not merely some devious ruse. The Rational Construct of the Nation State ceases to have any meaning when a county’s borders virtually disappear. Biden, perhaps the dumbest President in all of U.S. history, allowed millions to cross the Mexican border throughout his term with little or no oversight whatsoever. That they are unregistered and untraceable entails a myriad of problems of a logistical, economic and judicial nature which are by definition detrimental to the orderly functioning of a healthy Democracy. And yet a host of Democrats have actually incited violence against America’s ICE agents!
As reported by The Blaze on Feb. 4, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz sees ICE as but Trump’s version of Hitler’s Gestapo. California’s Nancy Pelosi clearly agrees. New York Democrat Jerry Nadler has actually said that opening fire on ICE agents would seem to be perfectly justified. Imagine if Donald Trump or any of his supporters had made similar statements encouraging violence against a legitimate branch of the U.S. government. Imagine the outrage that would explode not only on the political Left, but throughout the mainstream media. And yet, relative silence on the disgusting statements of Nadler and company. Such is the absurd, hypocritical bias of our Contemporary Western Culture!
