My initial Blog was entitled “Mindless by Design” because the Left has literally eliminated the legitimacy of Ideas and Values from political discourse.
In the entry entitled “The Devaluation of Truth” I cited a letter penned by B.L.M in 2017 in response to an incident at U.C.L.A. in which it claimed the very notion of “objective truth” was a stratagem devised by post-Enlightenment White people to keep others down.
The Blaze has just reported that Laurie Rubel, a Math Professor at Brooklyn College, recently tweeted that using 2+2=4 as a demonstration of the “objectivity” and “neutrality” of Math “reeks of white supremacist patriarchy.” The implication is clear. Should any member of an “oppressed minority” declare that 2+2 =10,000, the only civilized thing to do is to agree!
Hers is not the assertion of some fringe, Leftist loonie. The well-respected Feminist philosopher Julia Kristeva has been arguing for years that a world approached via Reason and Science is a “phallo-centric” world, that Women feel Reality intuitively, empathically. It is of course a simplistic distinction, there being Women who are clearly far more rational than some Men. At the same time it impugns the very notion of Objective Truth as a “patriarchal” construct. The absurd result is a world in which perfectly reasonable arguments can be dismissed as mere “hate speech.” Should I object to some CNN simpleton declaring that Sharia Law is actually “feminist,” I am not making a defensible, rational argument, but merely exposing myself as a nasty, hateful Islamophobe!
This disgusting stratagem is fundamental to the Left. In her quest to become leader of the Conservative Party here in Canada a few years ago, Kellie Leitch declared her intention of checking new immigrants for their “Canadian values.” She was of course immediately denounced for what John Ivison of the National Post called her “tactics of intolerance.” In a Sept. 2016 article in The Globe and Mail, Laura Stone referred to Leitch’s invocation of Values as an obvious “button pushing strategy,” the implication clearly being that the “button” being pushed was the racist button, her “conservative” followers apparently all having the minds of Neanderthals. Similarly Penny Collenette in the Toronto Star of Sept 11 asserted that the word “values” was really “code” for something else, a contention that entitled she and all of her mind-set to never, ever, ever discuss the efficacy of the “values” in question.
How insane is a cultural regime given to paroxysms of indignation should a White heterosexual male so much as look at a female the wrong way, while being utterly unconcerned about the possibility of welcoming millions of Muslims into its midst given to genitally mutilating young girls, forcing them into loveless marriages and basically treating them as little more than the property of Men. How truly insane is it that England, in its attempt to be “inclusive,” had allowed the establishment of over 100 Sharia Courts within its borders by 2016?
An ethos based upon Identity rather than Truth and Integrity is by definition Absurd. Such is the status of political discourse here in our contemporary Western Democracies!
