Eric Adams, the newly elected Black Mayor of NYC, is a moderate Democrat, a former cop who does not support de-funding the police, one who is so devoted to the Rule of Law that he has promised to the restore the “anti-crime units” disbanded last year in response to the agitation of B.L.M.
In commenting on Adams’ intention of reinstating those units, Hawk Newsome, a co-founder of the B.L.M. chapter of Greater New York, told the Daily News: “….we are going to take to the streets again. There will be riots, there will be fire and there will be bloodshed.” While the Left customarily denounces as “hate speech” any criticism, no matter how rational, of one of its anointed minorities, does the above not in fact cross over into the realm of the criminal?
In a civilization still devoted to the Rule of Law, a civilization which has not lost its Mind, Newsome’s statement, which seems to be a brazen incitement to violence, would not only be banned from all social media platforms but subject to punitive legal repercussions. Yet so morally/intellectually contaminated is our “progressive” culture that he has been allowed to spew his poison for years.
Anticipating a possible innocent verdict in the Rittenhouse trial, Joe Biden informed the authorities in Kenosha he would be willing to send in federal forces should rioting break out in that Wisconsin city. His statement was fraught with irony if not hypocrisy. Rittenhouse was in Kenosha as a result of the lawlessness already under way there. Moreover Biden’s party in general had done little more than rationalize [i.e., incite] the “peaceful” riots that had plagued much of the country throughout 2020. One can only assume his new stance was a result of the unequivocal message delivered by the American people in elections such as the one recently held in Virginia where “law and order” Republicans were clearly the preferred option of the majority of the voting public. Or perhaps he had seen the video posted by two N.Y. Times [!] journalists the week of the 8th suggesting that many Red states were in fact outperforming their Democratically controlled neighbors. Or perhaps he was aware of Bill Mahr’s oft repeated claim that the American Left seems to have utterly abandoned simple common sense.
But of course the cancer of Justifiable Lawlessness, tacitly promoted by the mainstream media, has already metastasized throughout our culture. Quite predictably, Rittenhouse’s exoneration has led to violence not only in Kenosha but in other hot beds of “progressivism” such as Portland where protesters bearing signs saying “Kyle is a terrorist” and “All cops are Kyles” proceeded to pelt the local police with bottles of urine, water, alcohol, etc., while ultimately attempting to breach the Multnomah County Justice Center chanting “burn it down, burn it down.”
But while Biden expressed his disapproval, real or feigned, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, in response to the Rittenhouse trial, issued a statement clearly supportive of the narrative of systemic racism, claiming that America had one set of rules for Whites and another for people of Color. Its statement read: “People are right to be outraged, and they are right to be outraged at the violence that disproportionately hurts people of color and the legal system that fails to hold the violence accountable.”
Exhibiting the moral/intellectual integrity that is the informing principle of “conservatism,” the wonderful Larry Elder responded by reiterating the statistical FACTS that expose the utter stupidity of the myth of systemic racism. In 2015, he pointed out, there were 729 interracial homicides committed within the U.S. But while Blacks constitute less than 15% of the American population, they were, astoundingly, responsible for 500 of those 729 murders!
A recent poll of N.Y. City cops revealed that more than half of them wished they had never got involved in law enforcement. Though the statistics unequivocally show that White cops are in no way more prone to violence in dealing with people of Color, it is a simple fact that most of their violent confrontations in America’s inner cities will be with that demographic.
What to do! A belligerent Black man, seemingly armed, approaches through the dark. Three seconds to make a decision! Open fire and kill him and you will be reviled from coast to coast as just another White racist cop. Hesitate and you may be dead before your next breath. A lose, lose situation! What to do?
More importantly, what would self-righteous simpletons such as Brian Stelter, Don Lemon, Chris Cuomo, Joy Reid, etc., etc., do, when confronted with the possibility of losing their lives within a mere matter of seconds?
The notion that Rittenhouse was acquitted because of a legal system corrupted by racial bias is absurd. My next blog will deal briefly with the multitude of lies promulgated by the mainstream media in support of its simplistic, ideologically imposed delusions.
