On a recent episode of Dr. Phil, Shaun Harper, a Black professor at the U. of Southern California, came down hard in his support of Critical Race Theory, claiming “unequal” results in America’s socio-economic realm were the product of systemic White racism.
Keisha King, a Black mother, took issue with what she thought was Harper’s grossly simplistic vision of Reality. While not denying that racism factored into the equation, she suggested that contemporary Black culture and the choices it promotes among the young clearly have something to do with the statistics relentlessly cited by the CRT crowd. But as any “conservative” will tell you, Culture and Free-Will have been banished from the “progressive” narrative, the values and ideas espoused by each individual apparently having nothing to do with the way their life turns out.
As King spoke, Harper smiled condescendingly, the superficiality of his vision apparently of no concern to him. But why would it be when it is the dominant, superficial vision of our “progressive” era? Whereas Wikipedia dismisses Marjorie Taylor Greene as a “far-right conspiracy theorist,” it matter-of-factly assures us that Shaun Harper is an “expert” on the subjects of diversity, equity and inclusion. Such value judgements passed off as facts are truly pernicious in their impact, those ruled by their “feelings” rather than their Minds [i.e., those on the Left], more than susceptible to the drivel spewed by academics such as Harper given that he has been endorsed by perhaps the dominant on-line source of information in the contemporary world.
