On Thursday the Supreme Court of the U.S. ruled a N.Y. State gun control law unconstitutional. The Second Amendment, which entitles each private citizen with the right to bear arms, was clearly the product of the Founding Fathers’ acknowledgment that Human Evil is an unequivocal Fact! The N.Y. piece of legislation, born of the “progressive” notion that it is guns rather than people who kill other people, stipulated that only those who could cite a special need for gun ownership would be granted that license. The famous, for example, their notoriety constituting a “proper cause,” might be so entitled, while the ordinary, law-abiding citizen concerned to defend himself and his family really has no need for a gun. Given the demonstrable fact that any given trip to a mall or indeed attendance at any elementary school in the U.S. might yield a violent attack by some demented piece of human excrement, is not the right of every law abiding citizen in that country to defend him/her self utterly beyond question? The Supreme Court ruled that it is so, declaring the N.Y. law a fundamental violation of the Constitution.
In response to that Supreme Court decision, Keith Olbermann, former employee of MSNBC, Tweeted that N.Y. ought simply to ignore it and, moreover, that the Supreme Court ought to be dissolved. This of course enshrines the principle that Democracy’s institutions are worthy of respect only when they rule in accordance with one’s personal opinions! It is a recipe for disaster, a recipe for Tyranny! But sadly it is the recipe prescribed by many in the Biden administration who have lobbied enthusiastically for the reconfiguration of the Supreme Court as a means eradicating the majority presently enjoyed there by “conservatives.”
No one has more powerfully exposed the incredible hypocrisy of America’s Democrats than Ohio Representative Jim Jordan. Citing that Party’s obsessive efforts to insure that Donald Trump, a supposed threat to Democracy, does not run again in 2024, he has on a number of occasions both in the House and elsewhere rhymed off a litany of the brazen lies and manipulations perpetrated by the Democrats which themselves constitute flagrant attempts to undermine the democratic process.
In a House speech which I believe took place on May 28, Jordan cites how the Democrats, motivated by a lust for power, have tried to alter various traditional American institutions to their own advantage ….. i.e., have tried to eliminate the filibuster; have unfairly denied true “conservatives” any representation at all on the Jan. 6 committee; have sought to disparage the principle of the Electoral College; and of course have lobbied to reconfigure the Supreme Court so as to allow them to “pack” it with “liberals.” In response to a charge that his party was guilty of recklessly spreading disinformation, Jordan launched into a list of lies supported by Democrats that had no doubt influenced the outcome of the 2020 election [i.e., that had poisoned its results]: the lie that the “social justice” protests of B.L.M. were peaceful; the lie that the FBI, with the approval of Hillary, had not spied on the Trump campaign; the lie that the Steele dossier proving Trump’s Russian collusion, was legit; the lie that Hunter Biden’s incriminating laptop which might very well have cost his father the election, was a Russian hoax; the lie that Joe, his son and family had never significantly profited from Hunter’s connections in China; the lie that Trump’s assertion that a Wuhan lab was responsible for Covid was just another example of his abject racism; Fauci’s brazen lie that the U.S. had never in any way supported the “gain of function” research which in fact led to our recent pandemic. All these lies, Jordan ranted, propagated by a sanctimonious collection of hypocrites who never stop accusing their opponents of being liars!
What is appalling is the role the mainstream media has played in supporting these manifold lies. In his aforementioned speech, Jordan cites the chaos at America’s Southern border, escalating crime in its Inner Cities and an Inflation Rate that is a threat to all save the very rich. Imagine the orgy of recriminations were Donald Trump responsible for these developments. Yet those claiming to be “news” reporters, reluctant to indict the “progressive” policies responsible for these realities, offer very little of rational merit on the actual condition of contemporary America. Indeed, in spite of the undeniable social and economic turmoil which, while it certainly began long before Trump or Biden took office, has radically increased under the latter’s administration, Trump remains enemy # 1 in the mainstream media.
Nothing better illustrates this fact than its approach to the events of Jan. 6. No one is exonerating Trump or his followers of blame for the breaching of the Capitol. But the ludicrous political bias of the Jan 6 commission as well as the media’s general reticence to question its grossly simplistic approach to many highly ambiguous facts, makes Jim Jordan’s recent assertion that Democrats seem to be out of their “goddamn mind” quite reasonable.
