I have no problem with those who claim their biology is out of sync with their true gender orientation. Love whom you will. Identify as you like. While it is unequivocally true that heterosexuality is the biological human norm, it is also true that gender and indeed a multitude of other human characteristics are subject to an infinity of genetic permutations. Individuals born with penises who claim they now identify as Women are perfectly entitled to do so. But they are not entitled to pretend that they are in fact indistinguishable from biologically born females and to assail them with their presence in ways that clearly cost them emotional distress if not actual physical or economic harm.
In 2019, Jonathan Yaniv, a B.C. male who now identifies as Jessica Simpson, sued 16 female aestheticians who, while perfectly comfortable waxing their female customers, were appalled when he/she assailed them with his/her male genitalia. Given the absurd cultural bias of our day, some of the ladies settled out of court while others actually went out of business. Yaniv, who sees himself as a trans activist, is a violent jerk who has recently garnered a criminal record with his belligerent behavior.
Kayla Lemieux claimed to be in gender transition as he began showing up to his teaching position with the Halton District School Board just outside of Toronto wearing enormous prosthetic breasts. When questioned, he actually had the audacity to suggest he was suffering from a rare disorder called “gigantomastia.” Gaining considerable notoriety through this childish prank, his students were obviously of only secondary importance. But as appalling as was his self-serving behavior, even more so was his school board’s reluctance to fire him for fear of being branded “transphobic.” After prevaricating for some time, it finally put him on paid leave which he ultimately decided to abandon in the hope of acquiring another teaching position. Astoundingly, he was offered a job with a Catholic school in my hometown of Hamilton which he gladly accepted while sporting a manly beard and no signs whatsoever of his apparent femininity!
These are but two examples of many in which transgenders born Male, with the permission of those who buy the Left’s simple-minded definition of “social justice,” are now allowed to terrorize Women by using their status as “victims” to invade their world. We have trans athletes dominating various women’s sports, in some cases actually brutalizing them with their superior strength. We have trans individuals allowed to share prison cells with females, some of whom mysteriously end up pregnant just a few weeks later. We have young girls in various institutions who are appalled that they are forced to share washrooms and dressing rooms with those clearly sporting penises. All of this “progress,” of course, is rooted in the superficial neo-Marxist assumption that if you belong to a minority clearly out of sync with the mainstream, you deserve the support of all decent people, no matter the outrageousness of your behavior.
The social justice movement which surged in the 60s with some very legitimate goals, has deteriorated into a dire threat to human decency itself. Identity has now replaced Truth and Morality as the defining factor in the Left’s response to all socio/political issues. Should conflicts arise between Blacks and Whites, the Blacks are always right; between Men and Women, the Women are always right; between Straights and Gays, the Gays are always right; between Muslims and Christians, the Muslims are always right. I am no doubt exaggerating, but evidence of the sheer stupidity of Identity Politics pervades every aspect of political discourse here in the “progressive” West.
Self-Awareness is essential to a Moral mode of being. To Transgenders, this must inevitably entail as admission that they are in fact radically different from those biologically born to the gender to which they now aspire. A 200 lb. individual born Male has no Moral Right to compete with biological Females in athletic competitions where speed and strength are determining factors. This is Not transphobia, but simple Human Decency. The latter, however, has been more or less replaced in the general consciousness by the superficial notion that those belonging to the most vulnerable of minorities are always worthy of support. Hence the reluctance of the Halton District School Board to fire a teacher who wore enormous plastic breasts to work in an obvious attempt to draw attention to himself! Hence the gall of a jerk like Yaniv presenting his male genitalia to multiple female aestheticians and demanding they treat him as just another woman! The principle at work here is that Feelings supersede Objective Reality in determining the Truth. It is a grossly sentimental and ultimately idiotic assumption which has ironically become the informing principle of the “progressive” West.
