On April 2, 2025, at a track meet in Frisco, Texas, Black Man Karmelo Anthony, aged 19, stabbed 17 year old Austen Mathews to death for having insisted he had entered the wrong tent as the upcoming high school competition was about to begin. In June of this year, Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison for his crime. Yet various facts have emerged which have led to a new trial from which Judge John Roach has been banished for having declared he thought the original sentence was perfectly justified. Mathews, by the way was White, so Race is clearly a factor in this issue!
As reported by Salem’s Mike Gallagher on Aug 21, Texas Democrat James Talarico has been highly critical of the original trial, pointing out there were no Blacks on the jury which convicted Anthony. But Mathews was unarmed while Anthony suspiciously attended the day’s events carrying a knife! Had Black jurors chosen to exonerate him, would it not have been Racial Bias rather than the Facts which led them to do so? Indeed is not Talarico’s invocation of the Race Issue typical of the contemporary Left’s compulsion to make everything about Identity while virtually ignoring Moral Integrity as a basic Human Value?
Records showed that Mathews was not averse to using the N Word and had in fact bullied a fellow student who was Black. The record also shows that when confronted with his antics he admitted that he had done “some dumb stuff.” But while it is possible there was a Racist element in his treatment of Karmelo that led to the latter’s assault, it is self-evident that he was simply trying to get him to leave the site he had mistakenly entered. He had in no way threatened him with violence and Anthony’s claim that he felt his life was in jeopardy is pure crap.
Certain information was not available when I contemplated covering this issue a few days ago. It has now come to light that Karmelo was also given to using racial slurs and had engaged in some extremely violent rhetoric in various texts! As a result, the judge urged by his lawyers to launch a new trial, has refused their request. But even without this new information, it is my contention that murder is the most heinous of acts and even if Austen Mathews had behaved obnoxiously, he absolutely did not deserve to die in this relatively non-violent confrontation. I feel guilty about killing spiders I find scurrying across my bathroom floor. I have never struck another human being in my life. All decent people must cringe at the very thought of violently assaulting another. And yet there was the “compassionate” Left, represented by James Talarico, playing the Race Card in an effort to exonerate a flagrant murderer. Such is the “moral” status of the contemporary Left!
